TRN questions
Choosing TRN in-ear monitors
Which plug should I choose: 3.5mm, USB-C or 4.4mm?
Choose 3.5mm if your phone, laptop or player has a headphone jack. Choose USB-C if your phone has no jack; the phone's USB-C port must support USB audio. The 2.5mm and 4.4mm plugs are balanced outputs found on music players, DACs and amplifiers. The Azure Dragon, Jellyfish, TA4 and Conch come with swappable 2.5mm, 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs, the White Tiger and Shell with 3.5mm and 4.4mm, and the Seahorse Pro and JAWS let you pick 3.5mm or 4.4mm.
What is the difference between planar, hybrid and dynamic sets?
A dynamic set uses cone drivers: the MT4 Pro, Conch, Jellyfish, EMA and Seahorse Pro. A planar set uses a thin flat diaphragm between magnet arrays: the Azure Dragon (14.6mm) and Rosefinch (12mm). Hybrids mix driver types: the TA4 (two dynamic, two Knowles balanced armatures), TA1, ST1 Pro, Xuanwu (square planar plus a balanced armature), White Tiger and Shell (dynamic plus planar), VX Pro+ (nine drivers) and JAWS (eight drivers).
Can I replace the cable?
Yes. Every TRN set here has a detachable cable. Most use 2-pin connectors; the TA1 uses MMCX. Check which one your set has before buying a replacement cable, because the two do not fit each other.
Do I need a DAC to use these earphones?
No. Every set plays straight from a phone or laptop with the matching plug. The TE Pro and Black Pearl plug into a USB-C port and add a 3.5mm and a 4.4mm balanced output, which is useful on phones without a headphone jack and for sets with a 4.4mm plug.
Which models have a microphone?
Listings titled with mic have an in-line microphone on the cable. The Mars gaming set has a detachable boom microphone, and the Shell comes with or without a mic. Listings marked no mic have none.
Which Sea Snail ear tip size do I need?
Each pack holds 3 pairs of one size: S (11.5mm), M (13mm) or L (14.5mm). They fit nozzles from 4.5 to 6.5mm across. If your current tips feel loose, go up a size; if they press, go down.
How long does delivery take, and what if it arrives faulty?
Standard delivery takes 7 to 12 business days and is free on US orders over $29. If an item arrives damaged or does not work, tell us within 48 hours of delivery. After that, cover depends on TRN's terms for the product and we help you make the claim. The details are on our warranty page.
Are these genuine TRN products?
Yes. They are TRN's own products, and we are an independent reseller, not TRN itself. If anything you receive does not look original, contact us within 7 days of delivery for a full refund.
Buying this brand from us
We buy from authorised distributors and check every model before it is listed. These pages set out exactly what that means, and what your cover is if something is wrong.
